About the Board
Sandoval County's Lodger’s Tax Ordinance generates revenue for marketing, promoting, and/or advertising the businesses residing in the unincorporated areas of the county. The goal of such marketing is to bring more tourists and visitors to the county so that they stay and play at local B&B’s, hotel/motels, auto camps, trailer courts, trailer camps, trailer parks, tourist camps, cabins and other premises used for lodging.
The Sandoval County Economic Development Department is the administrator of the Lodgers Tax Advisory Board and Revenue. Per the ordinance, the advisory board shall make recommendations to the Board of County commissioners concerning the expenditure of the occupancy tax proceeds. In addition, the advisory board shall also prepare semiannual budgets, setting forth the amount of money collected by the county treasurer, and also setting forth all expenditures made during such semiannual period.
