When requesting a new Marriage License please contact our office as we require a scheduled appointment to complete an Affidavit of Marriage Certificate and initiate the process for the Marriage License. Please ensure both individuals completing the Marriage License request have a government issued ID accompanied with their social security numbers with them. When completing this document please be advised that information provided on your identification such as; your name (including maiden name) will stay the same on this document. The Clerk’s Office does not have the capability to change this document with your new last name as it considered an original document with current information. The information provided is given prior to the commencement of your marriage which will include the individuals who were present while initiating this process. In the Clerk’s Office we do no conduct ceremonies nor do we have officiants. If you would like to schedule a ceremony with our Probate Judge please coordinate and schedule a time and day for your ceremony with their office. A post-marriage license packet will be provided to the future bride and groom with instructions after initiating the Affidavit of Marriage Certificate. This packet will need to be filled out in its entirety by the designated officiant, witnesses, alongside the bride and groom upon completion of the ceremony. Please ensure Marriage License is brought back within 90 after the ceremony has been conducted so the Clerk’s Office may complete the finalization of recording your license. Once the process has been completed you may keep your license and use it for your name change. The Clerk’s Office does not retain copies of your official Marriage License only the Affidavit of Marriage Certificate. Please ensure it is kept for safe record keeping as we are unable to retrieve or recreate another Marriage License.
