Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) Plan
The Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) is designed to provide an increased level of preparedness and response capability for the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the event of a chemical or biological attack requiring mass distribution of medical countermeasures, and to further maximize the effectiveness of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS). In simple terms, the program is designed to manage the Strategic National Stockpile at the local level. Once a chemical or biological event has been identified, and if it falls within the scope of requirements for the program, the CRI is activated. A request is made from the MSA to the State Emergency Operations Center, who then informs the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that CRI has been activated and that the MSA is requiring a specified number of doses. Upon receipt of their medical countermeasures, the jurisdictions take charge of their supply and enact their plans to disburse the product. The public portion of the plan can be viewed at the link below.
