Sandoval County Volunteer Program consists of four areas listed below. They provide assistance to other seniors, elementary school children, food pantries and libraries. The goal of the Volunteer Program is to enable persons over the age of 55 to remain physically and mentally active and utilize their life experience and community service.
Senior Employment Program (SEP)
The Senior Employment Program (SEP) is administered by the Volunteer Services Program providing training opportunities to low-income seniors. This program employs qualifying seniors, age 55+ to work in the senior centers, providing assistance in the areas needed, such as food preparation, facility/grounds keeping. Seniors must meet State determined financial eligibility requirements.
Senior Companion Program (SCP)
The Senior Companion Program (SCP), places seniors 60+ with frail elder adults who have been identified through an assessment process, to provide companionship, person to person non-medical support, assist with grocery shopping, prepare and share meals. You become a vital link helping those at risk remain in their home and community. Seniors must meet State determined financial eligibility requirements.
Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)
The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), places financially qualifying seniors 60+ in elementary schools in Sandoval County. These seniors help students in the classroom who have been identified by teachers needing additional help to develop their skills, confidence and strength to succeed in life. Seniors must meet State determined financial eligibility requirements.
Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
RSVP volunteers 55+ have the opportunity to help in their communities. Like many volunteers you may want to continue the type of interest that you enjoyed earlier in life, or you may want to learn a new skill, the opportunities are endless. You could help at senior centers, public libraries, food banks, the choice is yours. You will be part of one of the largest groups in the country, and a member of an active and organized community effort.
