Sandoval County Senior Olympics Kick Off Friday, March 10

There will be a lot of very active senior citizens moving around Sandoval County over the next two months.

These folks will be firing air guns, shooting basketballs, pitching horseshoes, playing tennis, running races and a lot of other thing as part of the 2017 Sandoval County Senior Olympics. The opening ceremonies for this two-month event will take place Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Bernalillo Recreation Center, 370 Rotary Park Road in Bernalillo.

The opening ceremonies begin at 9:00, and will be followed by a Talent Show and Dance Competition. The public is invited to both events.

The games are open to Sandoval County residents age 50 and over. Seniors residing in other New Mexico Counties can compete in these games, but only Sandoval County residents will be eligible to represent the county in the New Mexico State Games, which will take place July 19 through July 23, 2017 in Albuquerque.

The Sandoval County Senior Olympics also will include a special Health Promotion event at the Santa Ana Start Center on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. This event will include free health screenings, as well as classes and advise on how to get and maintain the best possible numbers on those screenings. This promises to be a fun event, with door prizes and gift baskets.

So, mark your calendar for both events, starting with the Senior Olympics Opening Ceremonies. Once again the time and place are:
